Pycno

The data is aggregated in our software platform. The system brings latest scientific knowledge to the farmer and provides recommendations based on real-time sensor and weather data. The insights help the farmer know exactly how much water to use, when to fertilise and be aware of disease probabilities.

We build modular sensors, which measure key characteristics of the soil and environment of the farm – soil moisture, soil, electrical conductivity, soil and air temperature, relative humidity and direct sunlight. Our technology allows us to develop smaller and more affordable sensors to provide more granular data.

Using farm specific weather and soil data can significantly reduce costs and improve quantity and quality of yields, because it helps to apply water and other resources more precisely. Current monitoring solutions are expensive and complicated to use.

Our devices are technologically superior and a lot more affordable. On top of that the software platform makes gathering farm information seamless and ensures that the grower can manage his farm in real-time anywhere in the world. Result – reduced costs and increased yields!

ReTreat

At ReTreat we are developing software, which is used together with a wearable tracker in order to constantly measure, analyze and display user’s emotions. The goal is to provide our users with a highly personalized monitoring of emotions, treatment and feedback.

ReTreat system is not only going to help our patients to understand their emotions better, but also allow professional therapists to improve the effectiveness of their treatment. Our application connects to professional health care institutions, and allows real time biometrical data monitoring. Thus, in the long-term this data can be used to track changes, develop new drugs, test and improve treatment methods.

Biometrical data records in the ReTreat application are going to be integrated with other types of information, such as current activities, agenda, location and others. The system is self-learning, for that reason it improves over time and provides more accurate suggestions.

To sum up, the combination of Retreat application and a biometrical data tracker enables its users to receive immediate feedback and take actions to make it tangible and controllable. In the future ReTreat System can be applied not only for healthcare sector but also marketing recommendations, road safety, video games and professional sports.

Smart Road Salting

In winter time impressive amounts of salt are being applied to roads in municipalities in Middle and Northern European countries to prevent slippery roads. Decisions on road salting are usually taken based on local weather forecasts, experience of municipal staff and data from a few local sensor stations.

The Smart Road Salting Project aims to drastically change current road salting practices. This is done by installing a fine-grained network of low-cost road sensor stations along the municipal road network, each of them connected to the internet, and by developing FIware apps to analyse and enrich the data.

As a result, municipal coordinators receive road salting advice for each specific road section. In a later stage the entire road salting process could be automated by delivering instructions directly to the gritting vehicles.

Application of road salt based on ‘when and where it is needed’ contributes first and foremost to safer roads and thus less accidents in winter time.

In addition, in our expectation, it leads to less public money spent on gritting and to less road salt leaking into the environment.

SUSF

We are strong believers that no team will ever be effective unless it has the right people with the right skills on it.

The five professionals forming up our team come from a variety of work fields and have deep knowledge of their own are of work. What is more important, we have worked together for quite a long time and there is a strong sense of rapport between us.

Needless to say, we are all fully committed to this project and willing to give our best effort to make it a successful one.

Jose Antonio, our team leader, has a master degree in telecommunications engineering and a broad background in his field as well as project management.

Javier and Mauro are also engineers but while the former specialized in hardware and electronic development, the latter focused on computer science with 14 years of experience in space technology.

Libe and David, on the other hand, cover another field of work. She studied advertising and PR and focused on corporate communication on a professional level, while David has a degree in business management and marketing, and relevant experience in the field.

WasteWalk

Elderly people constitute an ever increasing part of the population that live in cities. Citizens are getting older and live longer in their own homes. Among these elderly the ability to be physically active and have social interactions is an increasing problem. We propose an online platform where  older citizens can engage in a game that stimulates physical activity by interacting with their surroundings and neighbors. With an online platform participants are challenged to walk different routes to city waste containers based on their location of residence.

While bringing out the trash, they leave virtual waste along these routes. Other participants, who are also actively involved in the game, can make increasingly challenging city walks to clean their local city map. Every week the duration of the city routes will be increased in order to promote a physically active lifestyle. The online platform brings older people together and enhances social interactions in the offline world for a WasteWalk in the city.
